People and Places

The People and Places programme in Wales was launched in November 2005. It is the largest of the new programmes set up by the Big Lottery Fund in Wales and has a total budget of £66 million. The aim of People and Places is to enable people to work together for strong communities, social justice and better rural and urban environments. The central aim of the evaluation being carried out by Wavehill over a four year period is to assess the impact of the People and Places programme with respect to the three programme outcomes of revitalised communities, improved community relations, and enhanced local environment and community amenities. The methodology being used includes a series of in-depth interviews with projects supported by the scheme which will be repeated as the evaluation progresses to provide a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the programme, the challenges that projects have faced and how they have overcome those challenges.
