Survey and Research Case Study 1

Pembrokeshire Residents & Small Business Survey

Wavehill was contracted by Pembrokeshire County Council to conduct a survey of 800 Small and Medium Enterprises in Pembrokeshire.

The main aims of the survey were to provide baseline data to be used by Business Support Agencies and other public sector bodies to aid understanding of the current business scene and needs of businesses. In addition, the results of the survey were used to inform the development of the Community Plan for the County.

The survey needed to be conducted in both Welsh and English and two sets of survey tools were created. Furthermore we needed to balance the survey across industry types and the size of companies, so a quota system was used so we could be sure to represent the business population accurately.

The baseline data produced as a result of the survey will need to be gathered again at a later date, to monitor changes in the business profile and needs of businesses over time. The report examined the main findings from the survey, and was accompanied by a series of graphical reports that included cross-tabulated data.
