Vic de Jean

As a Wavehill associate since 1997, Victor specialises in educational development and training, and social regeneration. Coming from the Afro-Caribbean community has assisted Victor in working with BME groups, and his background in education has been invaluable in enabling him to access hard-to-reach young people, as well as being able to advise managers on forward strategy opportunities for training or vocational programmes.

Victor has also been involved in evaluating SRB and European funded programmes in Bristol, Bedford, London, Market Rasen, Pendle, Portsmouth and Wales, which has given him a broad understanding of the issues surrounding regeneration, and the opportunity to see firsthand examples of best practice. These contracts have covered Community Regeneration, Small Business Support, Self-Build schemes, Community Safety, as well as projects surrounding Connexions, the Learning Gateway, Youth Gateway (Careers Wales Association), ICT, Lifelong Learning, Key Skills and the Digital Learning Ring.

On the education front, Victor specialises in e-learning, and was involved as a writer for BBC's 'Further Education On-line', 'GCSE Bitesize' and the BBC 'Key Skills' CD ROM series. He was also a School's Adviser for ICT Staff Development for the Learning Schools Programme (Open University), and worked closely with the LSDA (Learning & Skills Development Agency). He has also been involved in writing eCPD materials, to support staff in the field of e-learning, on behalf of the Learning & Skills Network and QIA (Quality Improvement Agency), and has edited the Centre for Excellence in Leadership's (CEL) 'On-line Toolkit for Work Based Learning Providers'.

Victor is currently an associate with Wavehill Consulting, the Centre for Excellence in Leadership, the Learning & Skills Network and NIACE (the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education), and is a member of the professional body AMED (the Association of Management Education and Development). Prior to this, he spent ten years teaching in Inner London Secondary Schools and Off-site Units for children with behavioural problems; and nine years as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Further and Higher Education.
