Dr Tom Marshall, Senior Consultant
Tom joined the team based in Aberaeron in May 2018 and brings a wealth of experience having worked previously for the University of Liverpool, IPSOS MORI and more locally for Aberystwyth University. His research career has taken him across the UK, as well as to Spain, Italy, and the U.S.A. He has experience of working on large-scale research projects commissioned by UK Research and Innovation, Welsh Government and the British Council, in addition to smaller work carried out for third sector and private sector clients.
Tom’s main area of research expertise is designing and implementing qualitative research, particularly using semi-structured interviews, focus groups and action research methods. He is also particularly adept at carrying out rapid evidence assessments and policy reviews. Since joining Wavehill, Tom has worked across a wide variety of project areas, but he is particularly interested in working on third sector capacity building, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and international development projects.
Tom grew up in the North West of England, moving to Wales in 2006 while studying International Relations at Aberystwyth University. Outside of work, his hobbies include walking, running and playing cricket, and he retains a tragic obsession with Tranmere Rovers Football Club and Lancashire County Cricket Club.
