Gary has enjoyed a three-stage career that includes time spent in the private sector, public and third sectors, and latterly within the field of learning and development. He has almost always been involved in project environments, as project developer, manager, consultant, mentor, or in terms of transferring knowledge and developing capability in learning environments.
He now specialises in project management. Gary is the author of the text book 'Understanding Project Management: Skills and Insights for Successful Project Delivery' published in May 2015.
His experience spans many sectors of the economy; combined with his generalist approach to project management, Gary is able to contribute at different levels, leading, supporting or advising on projects. For example, with Wavehill he provides focused peer review support at key stages of project delivery.
Within the private sector he has worked for STC plc and Honeywell Ltd; within the public sector he developed and delivered projects for the former Development Board for Rural Wales (DBRW) and Welsh Development Agency (WDA); as consultant he has delivered services for a variety of organisations ranging from construction-related projects for the Forestry Commission, to business planning support for university spin-out clients; within the Higher Education sector he works for a number of business schools inside and outside the UK.
Gary has an MBA from the School of Management and Business at Aberystwyth University. With a wide variety of recreational interests, he also has a working knowledge of French, Welsh and, as a frequent visitor to the Asia Pacific region, is currently developing his skills in Mandarin.
