Higher Level Apprenticeship Plan for the Heart of the South West report

Serco secured funding under the ESF Priority 2.1 to deliver the HotSW Apprenticeship Service under two contracts across the ‘Transitional’ Region of Devon, Plymouth and Torbay, and the ‘More Developed’ region of Somerset.

The Service, which runs from November 2016 to July 2018, is co-financed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the European Social Fund (ESF), and is aligned to Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) priorities. The Service aims to increase the number of employed people in HotSW starting an apprenticeship at all levels and ages; and to increase employer participation in traineeships and apprenticeships (with a focus on higher level apprenticeships).

This is achieved by raising awareness of apprenticeships and providing support to employers; with a particular focus on the LEP’s ‘Key Sector’ employers, and those employers that have not offered Apprenticeships previously.
