How we hold and process your information
Consilium and Wavehill have been appointed by Northumbria University to evaluate the Graduate Internship support provided as part of the Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support (NEBS) project. We would like to know if and how the support provided has helped businesses.
Your contact details were provided to Wavehill, the company undertaking the research, by Northumbria University.
The questionnaire will take about 20 minutes to complete. Participation in the survey is voluntary, though we very much hope you will take part.
Based on the information you provide we may also ask your permission to develop materials for publicity purposes and the project may use anonymised quotes for publicity purposes. However, neither you, nor your business, will be named in any of the evaluation reports unless we approach you to agree to developing a case study based on your experiences. This means it will be impossible for anyone to identify you from any published reports.
It is also important to note that the team undertaking the evaluation do not work for Northumbria University or any of the organisations that are involved in the delivery or funding of this project.
This is an independent research evaluation although it has been commissioned (is being paid for) by Northumbria University.
Wavehill will delete the information you provide and all personal data relating to this evaluation within six months of the end of the evaluation.

1. Why is this evaluation happening?
The purpose of this evaluation is to know if and how the support provided by Northumbria University has helped to improve the competitiveness and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, specifically in the Northumberland and Tyne and Wear areas within the North East Local Enterprise Partnership area (NELEP).
2. What type of information is collected through the survey?
The survey will focus on how individuals received the support, their opinions of such support and the outcomes / impacts it had.
3. What is personal data?
Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely-available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.
Wavehill uses personal data provided by Northumbria University to facilitate this survey and will collect personal information, such as your name and business name, as part of this evaluation.
4. How long will personal data be kept for?
Wavehill will hold personal data during the contract period but will delete it six months after the end of the contract.
5. What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected through the survey?
This research is being undertaken as part of the evaluation of the Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support (NEBS) project. The overarching aim of NEBS is to help support the growth of small to medium size businesses. This takes the form of graduate internships and support for student and graduate enterprises. The evaluation enables Northumbria University to understand whether NEBS is working effectively. It is therefore used to support activities within the Northumbria Enterprise public task. For example, the information collected might be used:
To decide whether changes need to be made to the NEBS programme
To decide whether schemes like NEBS should continue in the future
To understand the best ways to support small-medium businesses
The evaluation is being carried out by Wavehill on behalf of the Northumbria University. Your individual participation in the research is voluntary.
6. What is the purpose of processing your answers to the survey?
The data will be analysed to enable Northumbria University to highlight the key achievements and added value/impact of the project against its stated objectives and output targets whilst also informing succession activity in conjunction with the NEBS Operational Group.
The data will not be used for commercial or marketing purposes and it will not be used to take make decisions about you as an individual.
7. Who has access to the personal data collected through the survey?
Wavehill will have a copy of the personal data to allow it to carry out the survey and to prepare the final dataset. Wavehill will delete personal data on its systems within six months of the end of the project.
The dataset Northumbria University receives from Wavehill will be anonymised – information that could be used to identify individuals will be removed.
