Gwerthusiad o’r Rhaglen Pori Drwy Stori Meithrin

Mae partneriaeth rhwng IAITH: Y ganolfan cynllunio iaith a Wavehill wedi cael eu penodi gan BookTrust Cymru i gynnal gwerthusiad o’r rhaglen Pori Drwy Stori Meithrin. Prif dasg y gwerthusiad yw mesur effaith ac effeithiolrwydd y rhaglen.

Mae Pori Drwy Stori Meithrin yn raglen dwyieithog Cyfnod Sylfaen sy’n cael ei darparu i oddeutu 10,000 o blant oedran meithrin mewn tua 350 o ysgolion a sefydliadau meithin yng Nghymru. Mae’r rhaglen yn gweithredu yn erbyn tair nod penodol:

  • Nod penodol 1: Gwella canlyniadau i blant yn gysylltiedig â llafaredd.

  • Nod penodol 2: Cynyddu’r cyswllt sydd gan rieni/gofalwyr a’r ffordd y mae eu plentyn yn dysgu, yn benodol o ran gweithgareddau sy’n cefnogi canlyniadau llafaredd.

  • Nod penodol 3: Cynyddu gwybodaeth a dealltwriaeth ymarferwyr o sut gallant wella canlyniadau llafaredd i blant, a’u hymarfer mewn perthynas â hynny, yn arbennig drwy ymgysylltu â rhieni a gofalwyr.

Fel rhan o’r gwerthusiad hwn rydym yn cynnal dwy arolwg o’r ysgolion a sefydliadau sy’n cymryd rhan yn y rhaglen. Serch hynny, er mwyn deall y gwahaniaeth mae’r rhaglen hwn yn ei wneud, rydym hefyd yn bwriadu cynnal arolwg o nifer o ysgolion/sefydliadau a’r rhieni/gofalwyr sydd heb cymryd rhan.

I ddiolch, bydd yr ysgolion a sefydliadau hyn yn cael:

  • Gwarantu lle yn y rhaglen Pori Drwy Stori Meithrin 2019/20 (os dewisir i gymryd rhan);

  • Derbyn llyfr am ddim, addas i bob plentyn 3-4 oed yn eu dosbarth meithrin oddi wrth BookTrust Cymru;

  • Derbyn adroddiad anhysbys yn seiliedig ar arolygon rhieni / gofalwyr o Wavehill Research (y gwerthuswr) i roi mewnwelediad i ymddygiad rhieni / gofalwyr

I gymryd rhan yn y gwerthusiad, rydym yn edrych am ysgolion a sefydliadau sydd:

  • Ddim yn cymryd rhan yn y Rhaglen Pori Drwy Stori Meithrin 2018/19;

  • Wedi eu lleoli yng Nghymru;

  • Gyda darpariaeth meithrin ar gyfer y ‘rising 4s’ (plant 3-4 blwydd ed)

Gofynir i’r ysgolion a lleoliadau i:

  • Darparu cerdiau post i’r rhieni/gofalwyr o’r plant yng ngrwp oedran y rhaglen gyda linc i’r arolwg, ac yna annog rhieni/gofalwyr i gwblhau’r arolwg (e.e. trwy atgoffa ar decst/Twitter)

  • Cwblhau Arolwg Ffeil Ffeithiau 5-munud i Ysgolion/Sefydliadau

  • Rhannu data asesu llefaredd (mae hwn yn dewisol, ond yn holl bwysig i’n helpu i ddeall effaith y rhaglen).

Os oes gennych diddordeb neu os hoffech rhagor o wybodaeth, cysylltwch a Wavehill ar surveys@wavehill.com os gwelwch yn dda.

Diolch

Evaluation of BookTrust Cymru’s Pori Drwy Stori Nursery Programme

A partnership between IAITH: Welsh Centre for Language Planning and Wavehill Research have been appointed by BookTrust Cymru to undertake an evaluation of the Pori Drwy Stori Nursery programme. The key task of the evaluation is to measure the impact and effectiveness of the programme.

Pori Drwy Stori Nursery is a Foundation Phase bilingual programme delivered to around 10,000 nursery age children in around 350 schools and non-maintained settings in Wales. The programme will deliver upon three specific aims:

  • Specific aim 1: To improve oracy-related outcomes for children.

  • Specific aim 2: To increase parents’/carers’ engagement with their child’s learning, specifically in relation to activities which support oracy outcomes.

  • Specific aim 3: To increase practitioners’ knowledge and understanding of, and practice relating to, how they can improve oracy outcomes for children, especially by engaging parents and carers.

As part of this research we are conducting two surveys of the schools and settings who are taking part in the programme. However, in order to truly understand the difference the programme’s making we are also looking to survey a number of schools/settings and parents/carers who have not taken part.

As a thank you, these schools and settings will:

  • Be guaranteed a place in the 2019-20 Pori Drwy Stori Nursery programme (if they wish to take part);

  • Receive an appropriate, free book for every 3-4 year old child in their Nursery class from BookTrust Cymru;

  • Receive an anonymised report based on the parent/ carer surveys from Wavehill Research (the evaluator) to provide insight into parent/ carer behaviours

To take part in the evaluation, we are looking for schools and non-maintained settings that are:

  • Not currently part of the 2018-19 Pori Drwy Stori Nursery programme;

  • Based in Wales;

  • Have nursery provision for the ‘rising 4s’ (children aged 3-4)

These schools and settings will be asked to:

  • Distribute postcards to parents/ carers of children in the programme age group with a survey link, and actively encourage parents/ carers to complete the survey (e.g. through text/ twitter reminders)

  • Complete a 5-minute online School/ Setting Fact Sheet Survey

  • Share oracy assessment data (this is optional, but key for helping us to identify the programme’s impact).
