Evaluation of the Cyrenians Cymru Project

Following the completion of the interim evaluation in January 2012, Wavehill were then re-commissioned to undertake a final summative evaluation of Cyrenians Cymru. Cyrenians Cymru aims to provide services to severely disadvantaged adults particularly those who have suffered from homelessness, substance misuse problems, social isolation, mental or physical disabilities. Cyrenians Cymru secured ESF Priority 2 funding to deliver sustainable employment opportunities to their target groups. Wavehill’s impact evaluation aimed to identify the return on investment (through a cost benefit analysis approach) from the project, specifically by exploring the extent to which those who secured employment as an outcome of the project sustained employment for at least 6 months.

A statistically significant sample of participants were contacted by telephone to identify what barriers they overcame in securing employment and whether they managed to sustain employment. This information informed a mapping and analysis of costs and benefits to provide a return on investment figure.
