The Welsh Government has commissioned Wavehill to explore the early, developmental stages of co-operative housing in Wales and the efficacy of the support provision. In the current model of support, Wales Cooperative Centre function as the central hub in a network of support options ranging from the training of residents in the principles of co-operative housing to accessing Welsh Government grants. This facilitation service is important as the type and scale of co-operative housing projects can be extremely varied and the model allows for appropriate third-party expertise to be brought in where necessary.
The evaluation is also demonstrating how the nature and perception of support amongst different groups is shaping this emerging sector. The evaluation will be used to inform the direction of any future policy development in this area.
