Evaluation of Jobs Growth Wales

Wavehill has been commissioned by Welsh Government to undertake an evaluation of Jobs Growth Wales II programme. JGW is aimed at unemployed young people aged 16-24, giving them valuable work experience for a six-month period paid at or above National Minimum Wage, between 25 and 40 hours per week. The programme targets 16-24 year olds who are registered unemployed but not on the DWP’s Work Programme, who are work ready but have failed to secure employment as they lack work experience.

JGW is a national programme part-funded by European Social Funds (ESF), under the Youth Employment and Attainment Priority, with the specific of reducing the number of 16-24 year olds who are Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET). The current programme budget is £53m and the programme aims to provide 9,000 participants across three years. The evaluation is being undertaken alongside the ongoing delivery of the programme and involves a rage of primary and secondary research including analysis of monitoring data, stakeholder interviews and discussions with the people being supported.
