Further information

Why is this research happening?

Wavehill has been commissioned by Brighton Energy Coop to undertake a research and evaluation study of the ERDF funded Community Solar Accelerator project.

Brighton Energy Coop are interested in the effectiveness of the grants programme provided under Community Solar Accelerator project and what impact it may have had, and how it can be improved. By surveying the beneficiary businesses who have received grant support through the programme, the feedback captured will help understand the extent to which the programme has met its objectives.

What type of information is collected through the survey?

The survey focuses on feedback about how the project has been managed, delivered and any perceived outcomes as a result of accessing the support.

What is personal data?

Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely-available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.

How long will personal data be kept for?

Wavehill will hold personal data during the contract period but will delete it six months after the end of the contract. In this case this is expected to be December 2023.

What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected through the survey?

The evaluation of the ERDF programme enables the Brighton Energy Coop to understand whether the programme is working effectively. It is therefore used to support activities within the Community Solar Accelerator Project’s public task. For example, the information collected might be used:

  • To decide whether changes need to be made to provision of this kind

  • To decide whether programmes like the Community Solar Accelerator should continue in the future

  • To understand the best methods for generating change and impact for businesses and the environment

The evaluation is being carried out by Wavehill on behalf of Brighton Energy Coop. Your individual participation in the research is voluntary.

What is the purpose of processing your answers to the survey?

The data is used for research and evaluation purposes only. The data will be analysed to enable the Brighton Energy Coop and partners to understand the impact and effectiveness of their ERDF project. This will help the Brighton Energy Coop decide whether any changes need to be made to the programme and to establish if this programme is able to deliver new insights.

Who has access to the personal data collected through the survey?

Wavehill will have a copy of the business data shared by you with the programme to allow it to carry out the survey and will capture some organisation details in the survey.

The survey responses will be analysed by researchers at Wavehill to produce a report for the Brighton Energy Coop. This report will not identify any individuals participating in the research and the personal or identifiable data will not be shared with the Brighton Energy Coop or anyone else outside of Wavehill. Wavehill will delete all personal data within six months of the end of the project.
