Prescription for Play– Project Staff and Beneficiaries Hartlepool and Stockton Health

How we hold and process your information

Wavehill have been appointed by the National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) to undertake an evaluation of the Prescription for Play Programme (P4P). The key task of the evaluation is to measure the value, and impact of the programme to understand if it is working as well as it could and where it might be improved. Hartlepool and Stockton Health have been asked to run P4P project you have been involved in by NASP.

We would like to speak to P4P project staff, and caregivers supported by the programme, to capture views about how the project has been delivered and the impact that is having on your families’ experience of play. Hartlepool and Stockton Health have provided us with your name and contact details.

The data you provide will only be used for the purposes of this evaluation. Any personal information collected as part of the evaluation is kept confidential. Your answers to the interview will not be made public in a way that could lead to you being identified. Wavehill will produce a report based on the information but this will not identify any individuals.

It is also important to note that the team undertaking the evaluation do not work for NASP or Hartlepool and Stockton Health or any other organisations that are involved in the delivery or funding of this project. This is an independent evaluation.

Wavehill will delete the information you provide and all personal data relating to this research within six months of the end of the evaluation.

Further information

Why is this research happening?

Wavehill has been commissioned by the National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) to undertake an evaluation study of their Prescription for Play (P4P) programme. Through P4P, NASP and LEGO are supplying DUPLO kits and other resources to families with children aged 18-36 months to support caregivers in playing with their children.

NASP/LEGO are interested in the way that this support can help adult caregivers to play with their child/children to support the health and wellbeing of their child/children and their learning and development. The programme is testing this in two areas in England to identify what are the best ways of delivering this kind of support to caregivers, and learn lessons that could help the programme roll out more widely across England.

What type of information is collected through the survey/interview?

The survey and voluntary follow up interview/survey focus on views about how the P4P projects have been managed, delivered and any perceived outcomes as a result of these projects. It also seeks to identify how the support has helped the adult caregivers in their work supporting families with children aged 18-36 months.

What is personal data?

Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely-available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.

How long will personal data be kept for?

Wavehill will hold personal data during the contract period but will delete it six months after the end of the contract.

What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected through the survey?

The evaluation of the P4P programme will support activities within NASP’s public task to understand whether the P4P programme is working effectively. This work supports the core role and functions of the NASP. For example, the information collected might be used:

  • To decide whether changes need to be made to P4P Programme

  • To decide whether programmes like P4P should continue in the future

  • To understand the best methods for delivering this kind of support to key staff and adult caregivers.

The evaluation is being carried out by Wavehill on behalf of NASP/LEGO. Your individual participation in the research is voluntary.

What is the purpose of processing your answers to the survey/interview?

The data is used for research and evaluation purposes only. The data will be analysed to enable NASP/LEGO to understand the impact and effectiveness of the P4P Programme. This will help the NASP/LEGO decide whether any changes need to be made to the P4P Programme and to establish if this programme is able to deliver new insights into how support around play and health needs might be improved. The data will not be used for commercial or marketing purposes and it will not be used to take make decisions about you as an individual.

Who has access to the personal data collected through the survey/interview?

Wavehill will have a copy of the personal data to allow it to carry out the survey and will capture name, and contact details during this interview to help us conduct one follow up interview.

Wavehill will make a written record of the discussion during the follow up interview. These notes will be analysed by researchers at Wavehill to produce a report for NASP/LEGO. This report will not identify any individuals participating in the research and the notes will not be shared with NASP/LEGO or anyone else outside of Wavehill. Wavehill will delete all personal data within six months of the end of the project. NASP/LEGO will not have access to personal data collected through the interviews or surveys.
