Wales Funders’ Response to the Covid-19 Crisis

How we hold and process your information

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, in early 2020 key funders of the third sector in Wales came together in a collaborative way to offer a range of funds to support the sector. The funds are:

  • Wales Council for Voluntary Action - Third Sector Resilience Fund (Phase 1 and 2)

  • Wales Council for Voluntary Action – Voluntary Services Emergency Fund

  • Wales Council for Voluntary Action – Voluntary Services Recovery Fund

  • Community Foundation Wales – Wales Coronavirus Resilience Fund

  • Community Foundation Wales – Wales Respond and Recover Fund

  • National Lottery Community Fund – Awards For All (Covid-19 Specific) Fund

  • National Lottery Community Fund – People and Places (Covid-19 Specific) Fund

  • Moondance Foundation - Covid 19 Response Fund

The key funders – Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), Community Foundation Wales (CFW), National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) and Moondance Foundation (MF) – have commissioned Wavehill to evaluate the effectiveness of this collaborative approach to funding. Feedback will be used to help inform the funding organisations in relation to potential future collaborative funding approaches in Wales.

The data you provide will only be used for the purposes of this evaluation. Any personal information collected as part of the evaluation is kept confidential. Your answers to the interview will not be made public in a way that could lead to you being identified. Wavehill will produce a report based on the information but this will not identify any individuals.

It is also important to note that the team undertaking the evaluation do not work for WCVA, the other key funders or any other organisations that are involved in the delivery or funding of this project. This is an independent evaluation.

Wavehill will delete the information you provide and all personal data relating to this research within six months of the end of the evaluation.

Under the new data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • To access your personal data held by WCVA

  • To require WCVA to correct any mistakes in that data.

  • To (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing.

  • For (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’.

1. Why is this research happening?

2. What type of information is collected through the research?

As part of the research, we would look to capture the experiences and views of organisations that have accessed any of the funds listed above, and also the experiences of organisations that have engaged with, or may have awareness of, the funds or the wider collaborative third sector funding agenda.

3. What is personal data?

Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.

4. How long will personal data be kept for?

Wavehill will hold personal data during the contract period but will delete it six months after the end of the contract.

5. What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected through the survey?

The evaluation of the Wales Funders’ Response to the Covid-19 Crisis enables the WCVA and the other key funders to understand whether their collaboration and support offer is working effectively. It is therefore used to inform support activities provided by the WCVA and the other key funders’ public tasks. For example, the information collected may be used:

  • To improve the way support is offered by WCVA and the other key funders in response to future crises.

  • To determine how best to support the sector in the future.

  • To help the WCVA and the other key funders to work together collaboratively in the future.

6. What is the purpose of processing your answers to the survey?

The data is used for research and evaluation purposes only. Feedback will be used to help inform the funding organisations in relation to potential future collaborative funding approaches in Wales. The data will not be used for commercial or marketing purposes by Wavehill or any other individual or organisation, and it will not be used to make decisions about you as an individual.

7. Who has access to the personal data collected through the survey?

Wavehill will have a copy of the personal data to allow it to carry out the survey and will capture name, job role and organisation name during this interview.

Wavehill will make a written record of the discussion during the interview. These notes will be analysed by researchers at Wavehill to produce a report for the WCVA and the other key funders. This report will not identify any individuals participating in the research and the notes will not be shared with the WCVA and the key funders or anyone else outside of Wavehill. Wavehill will delete all personal data within six months of the end of the project. WCVA and the key funders will not have access to personal data collected through the interviews.
