WYCreate Beneficiary Survey – Privacy Notice

Wavehill (Data Processor) are conducting a beneficiary survey for the WYCreate programme, on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority (Data Controller).


We would like to speak to beneficiaries of the WYCreate programme to capture feedback on your experience with the training and the impact it has had on you. Your feedback will help shape the delivery of possible future support schemes.


The data you provide will only be used for the purposes of this evaluation. Any personal information collected as part of the evaluation is kept confidential. Your answers to the survey will not be made public in a way that could lead to you being identified. 


Wavehill will delete the information you provide and all personal data relating to this research within six months of the end of the evaluation.


Your answers to the WYCreate Survey are linked anonymously to other data sources for non-commercial research purposes only, unless you ask for this linkage to not take place. The anonymised data is held securely and is only ever used for non-commercial research purposes. We do not share or use your information for commercial or marketing purposes.

Under the new data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • To access your personal data held by West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

  • To require West Yorkshire Combined Authority to correct any mistakes in that data.

  • To (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing.

  • For (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’.

Why is this research happening?

Wavehill has been commissioned by West Yorkshire Combined Authority to undertake a research and evaluation study of their Creative Industries’ skills and business support package for the wider You Can Make It Here programme, which provides bespoke support for the sector.


What type of information is collected through the survey?

The survey focuses on capturing feedback on your experience with the training and the impact it has had on you. Your feedback will help shape the delivery of possible future support schemes. Feedback collected by beneficiaries will be aggregated and analysed to understand common themes.


What is personal data?

Personal data means any information that could lead to a person being identified either alone or in combination with other widely-available information, e.g. their name, their address, or details specific to that person.


How long will personal data be kept for?

Wavehill will hold personal data during the contract period but will delete it six months after the end of the contract.


What is the legal basis for collecting and processing the data collected through the survey?

The evaluation of the Creative Industries’ skills and business support package for the wider You Can Make It Here programme is a public task which enables West Yorkshire Combined Authority to understand whether the programme is working effectively. It is therefore used to support activities within West Yorkshire including the design and implementation of any future funding programmes. 

The evaluation is being carried out by Wavehill on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Your individual participation in the research is voluntary.


What is the purpose of processing your answers to the survey?

The data is used for research and evaluation purposes only. The data will be analysed to enable West Yorkshire Combined Authority to understand the impact and effectiveness of the Creative Industries’ skills and business support package for the wider You Can Make It Here programme. This will help West Yorkshire Combined Authority decide whether any changes need to be made to the programme. The data will not be used for commercial or marketing purposes and it will not be used to take make decisions about you as an individual.


Who has access to the personal data collected through the survey?

Wavehill will have a copy of the personal data to allow it to carry out the survey. Responses collected will be analysed by researchers at Wavehill to produce a report for West Yorkshire Combined Authority. This report will not identify any individuals participating in the research and attributable data will not be shared with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, or anyone else outside of Wavehill, unless you have given your consent to be included as part of a series of attributable case studies in the main report. Wavehill will delete all personal data within six months of the end of the project. West Yorkshire Combined Authority will not have access to personal data collected through the interviews.
